The kitchen

The kitchen was totally nasty, redone in the 60s in a "colonial" style, and had suffered a grease fire, and a leaky ceiling (a drop ceiling under the wood beadboard under the original plaster) from the bathroom above.

Note the window had to be replaced.  The door in the left image was to a small half-bath that was turned into a full bath (with shower), and the door on the right image went to the basement, and it was covered over and the stair moved.

After much gutting 

it became possible to proceed with new windows, doors, cabinets, countertops, oak floor (new floor joists underneath to support the weight of the new appliances), walls, ceiling, wiring, plumbing, tile, appliances, a woodstove (behind the shelf of tools, venting out the old cook stove chimney, which got a new stainless steel liner), rerouted basement stairs, and custom oak moldings, the kitchen was finished:
